SAP Netweaver 7.0 BI Homogeneous System Copy

$

Good Afternoon,

In the process of changing the hardware of one of our clients, i need to perform a Homogeneous System Copy of several systems. I need some help in identifying the following system (checked using the menu System  --> Status from the GUI Frontend):

  • SAP Netweaver 2004s (or 7.0) Unicode
  • Components:
    • SAP_BASIS - Release 700 - SP Level 0020
    • SAP_BW - Release 700 - SP Level 0022 - SAP Netweaver BI 7.0
    • BI_CONT - Release 703 - SP Level 0015 - Business Intelligence Content

Is this a SAP Netweaver 7.0 BI Content Add-On 3? I'm asking this because i want to find the System Copy Guide, Master Guide and Installation Guide for this system, and i can't find it in https://websmp108.sap-ag.de/instguides. My best explanation is that i'm trying to find them in the wrong place...

Since this is Homogeneous System Copy from Windows 2003 + MS SQL 2008 to Windows 2008 + MS SQL 2008, i think the best method should be the use of database specific method to copy the system using backup/restore. Can you point me to the right docs to plan and execute tis copy? Marketplace is a great place to find docs, sometimes too overwhelming...

Pedro Gaspar

Hello,

I have to upgrade SAP Netweaver Java system 7.01 to 7.40 SR1 using SUM.

Environnement is in Windows Cluster HA.

Regarding SUM Guide, I need to uninstall ERS on both nodes before downtime and them reinstall ERS after downtime.

Is it mandatory to do that?

When ugrading ABAP system (HA too) from ECC6 EhP4 (NW 7.01) to ECC6 EhP7, I did'nt have to do this and I didn't have any problem. System was ugraded well.

Thanks for your help !

Hi Gurus,

I have installed NWBC for laptop. However, I am unable to launch it from the NWBC launcher.

I had the error saying "The server proxy was not found. The error code is INET_E_RESOURCE_NOT_FOUND"

The URL for NWBC that I have insert is "http://<FQDN>:8000/nwbc/~launch"

Anyone has had this error before? I have activated everything from SICF in /nwbc.

I am able to launch NWBC html from transaction "NWBC" in my abap server.

Hope someone can help me.

ERP 6 EHP4,BW 2004s and DMS/TREX Heterogeneous System Copy

$
0
0

Good Afternoon,

This will be my first time doing any System Copy and i will be very gratefull with all the help you can give me on this matter.

I need to plan a execute the system copy of at least three systems on my company. The landscape comprises the following systems:

  • SAP ERP 6 EHP4 (Business Suite) - Development, Test and Production Systems
    • Components: SAP ECC 6.0 (Non Unicode) - Kernel 721 Patch 132
    • Database: MSSQL 10.50.5200 (2008 R2 as far as i know)
    • Windows 2003 R2 SP1 (x64)

  • SAP BW - Development and Production Systems
    • Components: SAP NetWeaver 2004s - Kernel 721 Patch 134
    • Database: MSSQL 10.50.5200 (2008 R2 as far as i know)
    • Windows 2003 R2 SP1 (x64)

  • SAP DMS/TREX - Development, Test (in the same server as far as i understood) and Production System
    • First time ever i have contact with this system don't know much about it even it's concept
    • Components: ???
    • Database: My Information file says SAPDB 7.6 but as far as i know this should be MAXDB 7.6
    • Operating System: Windows 2003 R2 SP1 (x86)

The objective here is to migrate these systems to new servers in the datacenter infrastructure. The new operating systems will be Windows 2008 (don't know the versions yet), and new MSSQL versions.

So, this is a Heterogeneous system copy with the scenario of migrate to a different operating system, and a new database version. I'm checking System Copy and Migration in order to understand the process better.

For now, my idea is to use SAP tools to do this the following way:

  1. Preparation (Includes reading docs and download software, if not already present, in source system and download software for the target system)
  2. Export the Database (DB-Independent)
  3. Transfer the DB "Dump" (Export) to new Server
  4. Install DB and SAP System with software in Target System
  5. Import the DB "Dump" (Export) to the System with SAP Tools
  6. Follow-Up Activities

So this is my idea from a Macro point of view of tasks.

  1. Am i missing something here?
  2. Which tools are available for this kind of process and which ones you consider the best to use in each system copy, should i use Software Provisioning Manager 1.0 (i don't think i can use it for BW, nor DMS/TREX)?
  3. In this particular situation, how would you approach and execute this?

Those are my doubts for now, and all considerations you may have are very welcome. i'm sure more doubts will arise with more doc reading, and i'll keep posting.

All the answers with help will be rewarded of course.

Best Regards,

Pedro Gaspar

0.0.1 Gateway and Message Server Security

0.0.1.1 Gateway Security

Gateway Security Properties

The parameter GW/REG_NO_CONN_INFO controls the activation of certain security properties of the SAP gateway. It is defined as a bit mask with one bit per property.

SAP Note 1298433“Bypassing security in reginfo & secinfo” is not activated in your system. The bit mask value for bit 1 is not set.

Recommendation: Enable the missing property by adding the bitmask value to the current value of GW/REG_NO_CONN_INFO. For more information about GW/REG_NO_CONN_INFO, see SAP Note 1444282.

Upgrade application server after CI EHP6

$

Hello Experts,

We are in the process of upgrading BW 7.31 and ECC EHP6 in our environment. We have completed Dev and Q . I would like to get some clarifications on APP server upgrade/Re-install for Prod (ABAP only)

Version :- ECC EHP4 to EHP6, BW 7.01 to 7.31

Please suggest

1. DEV installed with XML stack

2. Q installed with same XMl stack (no appservers)

3. Prod has app servers in it. So when I try to generate new XML file for prod, it downloads latest IGS,SAPHOSTAGENT, and other plugin tools which we dont want to differ from dev and QA.

4. So when I use same QA XML file with change in prod name, SUM takes it but how about application server ?

5. I know, there is an option to "UPDATE Application server" in SUM tool . Is that dynamic ? which is smart enough to recognize app servers based on profile directory ? if not, can ABAP application server can be upgraded after CI ?

6. Or ABAP application servers require re-installation from scratch using old profiles.

Please suggest

Thanks

UD connect extractor error

We are using BPM std. extractors to load into BW using UD Connect. It was working fine until we upgraded to JAVA NW 7.3 SP7. Extractors stopped working with error message " Message no. RSSDK100 -UDC adapter problem: connection area" .

We applied the patch mentioned in SAP note 1722695 but now we are getting different error "RSSDK:300 Query execution failed: ASJ.ejb.005043 (Failed in component: sap.com/tc~bpem~bi~connector~ear, BC-BM T-BPM-ANA) Exce"

Any thoughts on how to resolve this?

Thanks in advance.

Cookies remain without Secure Attribute after changing ticket_only_by_https = 1, SystemCookiesHTTPSProtection=true, and ume.logon.security.enforce_secure_cookie=True.

1.)ABAP: sap-appcontext cookies

2.)Portal: com.sap.engine.security.authentication.original_application_url

Security guidelines advice us to put all cookies into secure flag.

1.) What are these cookies, the information it contain and how are they use?

2.) Is it necessary to set this cookies to secure flag? If not is how does SAP handles possible cookie hijacking?

Dear All,

As per sap note 455140 - Configuration of e-mail, fax, paging or SMS using SMTP we have configured multiple

virtual hosts to receive emails in each client.

is/SMTP/virt_host_1 = *:25001

is/SMTP/virt_host_2 = *:25000

and mailing routes as per below in exchange server.

srmqas.domain.com <HOST-IP>:25001

srmuat.domain.com <HOST-IP>:25001

We have also created 2 SMTP servers under SICF node.

one with hostdata 1 and second with hostdata2

Profile Parameter No.   1

Profile Parameter No.   2

And provided different client users , which have different email address.

1st client batch@srmqas.domain.com and 2nd client batch@srmuat.domain.com

Now , when we send email to these emails, email is receiving in only one client.

is there any other modifications required ?

Kindly comment/suggest if any changes.

Bond
